Umiri Yahata plays bass for Ave Mujica and is known among her bandmates for being blunt and straightforward, often teasing people in a dry, deadpan way. Despite her easygoing manner, she takes her music seriously and has built a reputation as a remarkably skilled player.
Before joining Ave Mujica, Umiri had already worked as a support musician, filling in on bass for more than thirty different bands. That experience gave her a level of technical skill that stands out even among her talented bandmates, and she plays an unusual five-string bass that none of the other members use.
Umiri is classmates with bandmate Uika Misumi, and the two share an easy rapport at school as well as on stage. She also gets along well with Mutsumi Wakaba, often showing her care through small, practical gestures rather than open affection. Umiri's calm, no-nonsense attitude makes her something of a steady anchor for Ave Mujica, especially next to more intense personalities like Sakiko. Her story is less about personal drama and more about someone who simply loves playing music well, wherever that takes her.
On screen

BanG Dream! Ave Mujica prima aurora is an anime film that opens in Japanese theaters on October 16, 2026, with a release in Taiwan on the same day. It continues the story of BanG Dream! Ave Mujica, a TV anime that aired from January to March 2025. That show was itself a direct follow-up to BanG Dream! It's MyGO!!!!!, and both are part of the large BanG Dream! music franchise created by the company Bushiroad. A franchise is a group of shows, games, music, and other products that share the same world and characters. To understand the film, it helps to know the band. Ave Mujica is a five-girl rock band that plays dark, dramatic music, with sounds close to metal. On stage, every member wears a mask and plays a character with a special stage name. The band was formed by Sakiko Togawa, the keyboard player and leader. Her past is tied to an earlier band called Crychic, which broke apart, and that breakup is a key part of both TV series. The other members are Mutsumi Wakaba on rhythm guitar, Umiri Yahata on bass, Uika Misumi on lead guitar and vocals, and Nyamu Yutenji on drums. Each one has her own reasons for being in the band. Mutsumi struggles with dissociative identity disorder, a condition where a person has more than one separate identity. Uika is deeply loyal to Sakiko. Umiri keeps her feelings at a distance. Nyamu is a social media star who wants to be famous. Director Kodai Kakimoto has said he planned MyGO!!!!! and Ave Mujica as opposites. MyGO!!!!! is about a group slowly learning to be honest with each other. Ave Mujica is a psychological suspense story, where the members hide their real feelings behind masks, both on stage and in real life. The TV show did not follow the usual happy band anime pattern. It focused on pain, loss, and conflict inside the group, and it touched serious topics like trauma and fear of being left behind. The new film is set in spring, more than half a year after Ave Mujica returned to the stage. According to the official announcements, the story centers on a brand-new project for members only, called the "Secret Masquerade." The masked, theater-like style of the band fits that name well, and the film looks set to explore what this next step means for the five members and their fragile bonds. Much of the TV team is back. Kodai Kakimoto returns as director, and two of the TV series' writers, Midori Goto and Akiko Waba, wrote the film's script. Music is central, as it is in every BanG Dream! story, and the real-life Ave Mujica band will release a four-song mini-album called "Kami no na wo" on October 21, five days after the movie opens. A new TV series is also planned for January 2027. For fans who followed the drama of the first season, prima aurora is the next chapter in a band story that is more about masks and secrets than easy friendship.
