Tengen Uzui is a Demon Slayer who holds the rank of Sound Hashira, one of the organization's strongest fighters. Before joining the Demon Slayer Corps, he was raised as a shinobi in a clan that forced children to fight each other, and he was once ordered by his own father to kill his siblings. Sickened by that life, Tengen abandoned his clan and found a new purpose hunting demons instead.
He plays up a flashy, over-the-top persona, calling himself and his missions endlessly showy and acting arrogant around others. That loud confidence hides real guilt about his past, which he rarely lets show. He works closely with his three wives, all former kunoichi, who act as his partners and support team during undercover missions, including a dangerous investigation inside an entertainment district controlled by demons.
During that mission, an upper-rank demon costs Tengen an arm and an eye, injuries serious enough that he retires from active duty afterward. Even retired, he returns for the final battle against Muzan, fighting alongside veteran Hashira Shinjuro Rengoku, father of Kyojuro Rengoku, to protect the leader of the Demon Slayer Corps. Tengen's journey, from a clan built on violence to a found family built on loyalty, makes him one of the series' more unexpectedly tender characters.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc is the second part of the show's second TV season. It was made by ufotable and directed by Haruo Sotozaki, like the first season. Its 11 episodes aired on Fuji TV from December 5, 2021, to February 13, 2022. The first episode is extra long, almost twice the normal length, and the final one is also longer than usual. The arc comes right after the Mugen Train story, so it is best to watch that first. The Demon Slayer Corps is the secret group that has fought man-eating demons in Japan for hundreds of years. Its very best swordsmen are called Hashira, or Pillars. In this arc, the young slayer Tanjiro Kamado and his friends Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira team up with one of these Pillars: Tengen Uzui, the Sound Hashira. Tengen is tall, loud, and proud. He used to be a ninja, he wears jewels on his headband, and he loves the word "flashy." He has three wives, Hinatsuru, Makio, and Suma, who were also trained as ninja. The mission takes them to Yoshiwara, an old entertainment district in Tokyo full of bright lanterns and fancy houses. People came there at night for music, drinks, and company. Tengen thinks a demon is hiding there. His three wives went in secretly, each working inside a different big house, to look for clues. But then they stopped sending messages. Tengen needs help to find them, so he dresses up Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke as girls and sells them as new workers to the same houses. The three boys look very silly in makeup and kimono, and the first few episodes have many funny moments as they try to act like young women and search for clues. The mood soon changes. The district is the hunting ground of Daki, a beautiful and cruel demon who belongs to the Upper Ranks, the strongest demons who serve Muzan Kibutsuji. She is number six. She hides her true face during the day and has strange powers that use long belts of cloth. As the heroes get closer to the truth, the danger grows quickly, and the last half of the arc is almost one long battle through the streets and roofs of the district. The arc is famous for its animation. Ufotable fills the fights with bright colors, fire, lightning, and flowing water effects, and the night streets glow with lights. Tanjiro's friends both get big moments to shine. The arc also keeps the show's habit of telling the sad past of its villains, so that even scary demons become people we can understand a little. It mixes action, comedy, and deep feeling, and it raises the stakes for the whole series. The story continues in the Swordsmith Village Arc.
