Saika Kuozaki

Ousama no Propose, known in English as King's Proposal, comes from writer Koushi Tachibana and artist Tsunako, the same team behind the hit series Date A Live. It started as a light novel, a Japanese novel for young readers with some pictures, published by Fujimi Shobo since September 2021. Yen Press brings the books out in English, and the first volume is called The Witch of Resplendent Color. A manga version drawn by Nemo Kurio ran on Square Enix's Gangan Online site from 2023 to 2025. The TV anime was announced in October 2025 at a Fujimi Fantasia Bunko online event and is planned to premiere in 2027. The world of the story is in constant danger. Every so often, strange threats appear that could wipe out the whole world. Only one person is strong enough to stop them every time: Saika Kuozaki. She is the most powerful mage alive, and she is also the head of a school that trains young mages. She is beautiful, calm, and respected by everyone. Her name alone makes people feel safe. Mushiki Kuga is the opposite. He is a regular high school student with no magic and no special fame. One day, he runs into Saika in a terrible moment. She has been badly hurt, and both of them are close to death. To save their lives, Saika uses magic that joins them together. When it is over, Mushiki is living inside Saika's body. Along with her body, he also gets her power and her duty to protect the world. This creates a big problem. Mushiki does not know how to use Saika's amazing magic, and he does not know how to act like her either. If people learned that the great Saika was really a teenage boy inside, there could be panic. So he has to go to her mages' school, play the part of the famous headmistress, and learn magic as fast as he can, all while making sure nobody finds out. A few people around Saika, such as Kuroe Karasuma, and students such as Ruri Fuyajou, become important to his secret life. The series mixes magic school action, comedy, and romance. Much of the fun comes from Mushiki trying to stay calm and graceful as Saika while panicking on the inside. The story also plays with ideas about identity, since one person now lives as two. Rie Takahashi is set to voice Saika in the anime. Fans of Date A Live will notice the same mix of big battles, cute characters, and lighthearted moments, now in a fresh setting.
