Opera works as a servant and security officer under Lord Sullivan, handling the day-to-day chores around his household in the world of demon school Babyls. Calm, serious, and practical, Opera often acts as the one voice of reason when Sullivan's schemes get out of hand, though Sullivan tends to ignore the advice anyway. Opera does not talk much, but when they do speak up, it is usually to point out a problem others have missed or to offer a dry, cynical comment.
Long before taking this quiet role, Opera had a fearsome reputation as a student at Babyls, said to have sent roughly six hundred sixty-six rivals to the hospital during school years, which earned them the nickname of the school's mysterious top dog. Kalego Naberius was Opera's underclassman back then, and Opera still enjoys teasing him about it, bringing out a far more playful and even sadistic side that rarely shows through Opera's usually professional manner. Kalego, in turn, is said to be more afraid of Opera than almost anyone else at the school.
Later, Opera takes on a new role as a teacher at Babyls, overseeing one of the school's practical classes. Throughout the story, Opera's history with Kalego and steady presence in Sullivan's household give the series some of its driest, funniest moments.

Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun has a fun "what if" side story, and it is getting its own TV anime. This version is called IruMafia Edition in English, or Mairimashita! Iruma-kun if Episode of Mafia in Japanese. NHK announced that the series will start in January 2027. The studio and main staff had not been shared yet when it was announced. The show is based on a spinoff manga drawn by the artist hiroja. It is built on the world of the original Iruma-kun manga by Osamu Nishi. Publisher Akita Shoten first ran the spinoff in Bessatsu Shonen Champion in September 2023, and later moved it to Weekly Shonen Champion. Kodansha USA publishes it in English. In the main Iruma-kun story, a kind human boy is taken in by a powerful demon named Sullivan, who treats him like a grandson and sends him to a school for demons. The spinoff keeps that heart but moves everything into a very different setting: a hard, crime-filled city run by gangs. Here, Iruma grows up with almost nothing in a poor part of the city. Even so, he stays kind and gentle. When he finds an old man who is badly hurt, he shares the only food he has and takes care of him until he is well. The old man is Sullivan, the boss of the Babel Mafia, a powerful crime family. A mafia is a secret group of criminals that works like a big, strict family. Sullivan is so moved by the boy's kindness that he comes back for him and asks Iruma to become his grandson. From that day, the poor boy is the next heir of a huge gang of demon gangsters. The fun of the story comes from that sudden change. Iruma is honest and polite, and he does not want to hurt anyone. Now he lives among tough, scary mob members, and he must learn how their dangerous world works. Fans of the main series will spot many familiar faces in new roles. The cast list includes Alice Asmodeus, Clara Valac, Ameri Azazel, the strict teacher Kalego Naberius, and Sullivan's loyal servant Opera, all placed into this gangster world. The tone mixes comedy and action. Much of the humor comes from the gap between a sweet boy and the serious crime family that adores him, which is the same kind of joke that made the main series popular. Themes include adoption, found family, and gang life, but the focus stays light and warm rather than dark. The original Iruma-kun anime has already had several seasons on NHK since 2019, so this spinoff gives fans a new way to see the characters they know. Viewers who have never watched the main show can also enjoy it, since it tells its own story from the start: a poor boy, one act of kindness, and a whole mafia family that suddenly wants him as its next leader.
