Mutsumi Yozakura

Mission: Yozakura Family mixes a spy thriller, a family comedy, and a sweet teen romance. It is based on a manga by Hitsuji Gondaira that ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2019 to early 2025. The manga has 29 volumes and more than 3 million copies in print. Studio Silver Link made the anime. Its first season ran from April to October 2024, with 27 episodes. Our hero is Taiyo Asano, a high school boy. After losing his own family in an accident when he was young, he became very shy and afraid of people. He can barely talk to anyone. The one person he feels safe with is his childhood friend, Mutsumi Yozakura. She is warm, gentle, and always kind to him. Taiyo does not know her big secret. The Yozakura family is the most powerful family of spies in Japan, and Mutsumi is its head. Taiyo learns the truth in the worst way. Mutsumi's older brother, Kyoichiro, loves his little sister far too much. He watches her all the time and wants to get rid of any boy who comes near her. Kyoichiro is a top spy who fights with thin steel wires, and he decides Taiyo must go. To survive, Taiyo finds a loophole. The Yozakura family has a rule that members may not hurt each other. If Taiyo marries Mutsumi, he becomes family, and Kyoichiro cannot touch him. So the shy boy makes a very bold choice. Now Taiyo is part of a house full of strange and dangerous people. Each Yozakura sibling has a special skill. Futaba is a very strong fighter. Shinzo is an expert with weapons. Shion is a hacker who works with computers. Kengo is a master of disguise. Nanao is a genius doctor. Taiyo has no powers at first, so he must train hard to become a real spy. He wants to be strong enough to protect Mutsumi, who is often a target for enemies. The biggest threat is Tanpopo, a secret criminal group linked to Taiyo's painful past. The show is loud, fast, and very funny. The spy missions have big action scenes, but the family scenes are what give the series its heart. The siblings are over the top, and Kyoichiro's jealousy is a running joke. Under the jokes, the story is about a lonely boy finding a family and learning to trust people again. The romance between Taiyo and Mutsumi grows slowly, and it is gentle and kind. If you like Spy x Family, shonen action (action stories aimed at teen boys), or romantic comedies with a lot of energy, this is an easy show to enjoy. A second season followed in 2026.
