A girl who lives with Mu-chan.
On screen

Shibatsuki Bukken is a comedy about a very cheap apartment and the ghost dog who comes with it. In English, the story is known as Shiba Inu Rooms. It is a manga by Esu Omori, and it runs on Shonen Jump+, the free digital manga service from the publisher Shueisha. A TV anime was announced on November 1, 2026. TMS Entertainment will make it, Osamu Yamasaki will direct it, and Rio is the character designer. It is planned for the third quarter of 2027. The story began as a one-shot, which is a single stand-alone chapter. That chapter ran on July 22, 2023. Readers liked it, so the series started its regular run on June 27, 2024. Viz Media publishes the English version. By August 2026, eight book volumes had come out in Japan, and a ninth was planned for November 2026. The manga also did well with critics and readers. It placed fourth in the digital category of the 11th Next Manga Awards in 2025, and it ranked seventh on a list of recommended comics chosen by bookstore workers. The heroine is Kori Momose, a high school student. She needs a place to live, and she finds a new, roomy apartment building called Maison Shiba. The rent is only 4,800 yen a month, which is far lower than normal. That price is a warning sign. People say the building is haunted. Kori is not too worried at first, because she loves horror and does not scare easily when it comes to ghosts. Then she meets her roommate. He is Mu-chan, a Shiba Inu dog who died but stayed in Room 101 as a spirit. His name comes from the way he always looks, with a stern frown on his face. The joke is that Kori, who can face ghosts without fear, is afraid of dogs. So the spirit that she has to live with is the one thing that makes her nervous. Kori has a plan. She wants a calm life in a nice room with no roommate at all. To get there, she tries many different ways to help Mu-chan move on from the apartment. Each attempt is a new chance for a funny scene, and Mu-chan does not always cooperate. The two slowly get used to one another, even if Kori does not want to admit it. The building also has other tenants. The story promises odd neighbors and more Shiba Inu dogs, so the cast is bigger than just two. The mood stays light and warm, closer to a cozy comedy than to a scary tale. The genres are comedy, slice of life, and supernatural. Slice of life means a story about everyday moments, with small events instead of big battles. The anime cast has been named for the two leads. Niina Nakabayashi will voice Kori, and Mutsumi Tamura will voice Mu-chan. The English and Japanese sources spell some names in different ways. Mu-chan may also appear as Mu or Muu-chan, and Kori may appear as Koori. This series is a good fit for anyone who likes animal comedies, gentle ghost stories, or short and funny stories about odd roommates.
