Choi Jong-In serves as guild master of the Hunters Guild, one of the most influential hunting organizations in South Korea, and counts among the country's ten strongest registered hunters. His fighting style centers on fire magic, which he wields with the kind of practiced confidence that comes from years at the top of his profession.
Jong-In has a sly, calculating personality, always thinking a few steps ahead in both business and combat. He is known for a habit of smoking, which adds to his image as a cool, composed figure who rarely seems rattled, even in tense situations involving rival guilds or dangerous hunts.
As guild master, Jong-In oversees Cha Hae-In, who serves as his vice guild master, giving him a front-row view of her growing connection with the rising fighter Jin-U Seong. His sharp intelligence and strategic mindset make him someone other guild leaders take seriously, and his cunning has made him a key player whenever South Korea's top guilds need to negotiate or cooperate during a large-scale hunt.

Arise from the Shadow is the second season of the Solo Leveling anime. A-1 Pictures made it again, with Shunsuke Nakashige still as director and Hiroyuki Sawano writing the music. It has 13 episodes and aired in Japan on Tokyo MX and other channels from January 5 to March 30, 2025. Crunchyroll streams it in many countries outside Asia. You should watch the first season before this one, because the story starts right where the first season ended. First, a quick reminder of the world. Years ago, magic gates began to open across the Earth. Each one leads to a dungeon full of monsters. People with special powers, called hunters, go inside to clear them. Hunters are ranked from E, the weakest, to S, the strongest, and their power is supposed to stay the same forever. Sung Jin-woo (also written Seong Jin-U) broke that rule. A secret program called the System lets him grow stronger by leveling up, like a character in a game. By now he can also call up shadow soldiers, the spirits of enemies he has beaten, who fight for him. This new role is linked to a title, the Shadow Monarch. In this season, Jin-woo is no longer the weak hunter people laughed at. He becomes an official S-rank hunter. But he still keeps most of his true strength a secret, and other hunters and guilds are curious about him. His family is still his main reason to fight. His mother has suffered for years from Eternal Sleep, a magic illness that keeps her from waking up, and he is searching for a way to help her. His younger sister, Jin-ah, worries about the risks he takes. His good friend Yoo Jin-ho also returns. The danger in the world grows bigger. A hunter who went missing for ten years comes back with a warning that a disaster is coming. Later in the season, Korea's top hunters plan a large attack on Jeju Island, where monster ants have taken over and keep getting stronger. Jin-woo also spends more time with Cha Hae-in, a strong S-rank hunter, and their bond grows. The season mixes these big events with smaller moments, like Jin-woo testing what his shadows can do. The tone is the same as before: dark, tense, and full of action. The fights are bigger, with whole armies of shadows on screen, so some scenes are violent and bloody. The new opening song, "ReawakeR", is by LiSA with Felix from the K-pop group Stray Kids. The ending song, "UN-APEX", is by TK from Ling Tosite Sigure. Fans liked the new season, and it was praised most for its animation and fight scenes. It won more prizes at the 10th Crunchyroll Anime Awards for those parts of the show. The story is based on the Korean web novel by Chugong and the webtoon drawn by Dubu, so there is still much more of Jin-woo's story left to adapt.
