Jin-U Seong

Sung Jin-Woo starts the story as one of the weakest hunters in his world. Hunters are people with special powers who fight monsters that come from strange gates called dungeons. Everyone sees Jin-Woo as a joke, a fighter who could die on almost any job. He keeps hunting anyway because his mother is sick and his little sister still needs money for school.

Everything changes after Jin-Woo barely survives a deadly double dungeon. A strange voice calls itself "the System" and gives him the power to grow stronger every time he fights, something no other hunter can do. Step by step he turns into one of the most powerful beings in the world, eventually becoming known as the Shadow Monarch, a ruler who can command the souls of defeated enemies as his own army.

Despite his huge new power, Jin-Woo never becomes cruel or cold. He stays humble and still puts his family first, which is part of why fans like him more than many "chosen one" heroes. He becomes close with Cha Hae-In, a top-rank hunter who at first keeps her distance from other hunters because of a strange condition that makes them smell bad to her, except for him. Their bond grows from respect into love, and they later marry and raise a son together. Jin-Woo also leads his own Ahjin Guild, working with loyal allies like Yoo Jin-Ho, who becomes his closest friend and second-in-command.
