Fable

Akira Satou, known within his organization simply as Fable, has earned a fearsome nickname: the Genius of Killing. As a professional hitman, he is capable of taking down any target with a single shot from his favorite handgun, and almost nothing is known about his real background or even his true name.

The story begins when Fable's bosses order him to stop killing entirely and move to Osaka for one full year, living quietly as an ordinary citizen under the name Akira Satou. For a man who has spent his whole adult life as a weapon, adjusting to a normal job, apartment, and daily routine becomes its own strange challenge, one that often puts his unusual skills to unexpectedly mundane use.

Away from his old violent life, Akira develops a genuine fondness for small, simple pleasures, including an enthusiastic love of watching a particular stand-up comedian perform. That contrast, a man once famous for ending lives instantly now finding joy in comedy shows and quiet routines, sits at the heart of what makes Fable's forced vacation so compelling. Throughout his year undercover, he's never fully alone: his partner and supposed sister, Youko Satou, works alongside him to keep his cover intact while danger from his past keeps finding its way back to him.
