Eugeo grew up in a small, isolated village inside Underworld, a virtual world built by advanced AI research. As a boy he was assigned to help chop down a massive, forbidden tree together with his two closest friends, Kazuto Kirigaya (known as Kirito) and Alice Zuberg. During that task, an accident led to Alice breaking a sacred law, and she was taken away by an armored Integrity Knight. The world's rulers then sealed away everyone's memories of Kirito to cover up what happened, leaving Eugeo to spend six years quietly grieving a friend he could not even remember clearly.
When Kirito returns to the village years later, Eugeo's buried memories resurface, and he resolves to become an Integrity Knight himself so he can rescue Alice. The two travel to a swordsmanship academy together, where Eugeo breaks the same sacred law to protect his own student from being attacked by corrupt nobles. That act gets both him and Kirito thrown in prison, but it also sets them on a path toward the ruling Church at the top of the world.
In the final battle against the Church's ruler, Quinella, Eugeo merges with a fragment of Alice's lost memories and his sword to help defeat her ultimate weapon. He strikes the finishing blow against Quinella herself, but the fight leaves him fatally wounded, and he dies with Kirito at his side. Even after death, part of his consciousness survives inside his sword, later helping Kirito recover and fight on against new enemies.

Sword Art Online: Alicization is the third season of the Sword Art Online anime, made by A-1 Pictures and directed by Manabu Ono. This first part has 24 episodes. It aired on Tokyo MX and other channels from October 7, 2018, to March 31, 2019, and its opening episode ran twice as long as a normal one. It adapts volumes 9 to 14 of Reki Kawahara's light novels. A light novel is a kind of Japanese book for young readers, with simple text and some pictures. The whole Alicization story runs for 47 episodes, with the later War of Underworld episodes finishing it. The hero is again Kazuto Kirigaya, who goes by Kirito in games. In earlier seasons he survived a deadly virtual reality game and other dangers in online worlds. Now he takes a part-time job testing a secret machine for a company called Rath. This machine, the Soul Translator, can link directly to a person's soul, or "fluctlight." It makes a virtual world feel exactly like real life, and it can make a few days inside seem like years. Kirito is not allowed to remember what he does during the tests. After something goes wrong in the real world, Kirito finds himself inside a huge fantasy land called the Underworld. At first he does not know where he is or how to log out. The people who live there are artificial intelligences, which means computer minds, but they laugh, cry, and think just like humans. He becomes friends with Eugeo, a gentle young woodcutter from a small village. Through Eugeo, Kirito begins to recall a girl named Alice Zuberg, a childhood friend of Eugeo's who was taken away years earlier for breaking a rule. The Underworld is ruled by the Axiom Church, which keeps order through a long list of strict laws called the Taboo Index. Its powerful Integrity Knights punish anyone who breaks them. Kirito and Eugeo decide to become skilled swordsmen so they can reach the capital and find Alice. Their path takes them to a swordcraft academy, where they train, earn friends and rivals, and learn that the system is not as fair as it looks. Meanwhile, the story also shows people in the real world trying to understand what Rath is building and why. Alicization is a slower and more serious season than earlier parts of the series. It spends a lot of time on world-building, which means showing how a made-up world works, and on the friendship between Kirito and Eugeo. It raises big questions: Can a computer mind have a real soul? Should people follow rules that are cruel? What does it mean to be human? Many fans see it as the most ambitious part of Sword Art Online, with beautiful backgrounds and strong sword fights. It is a good place for returning fans to see Kirito in a whole new kind of adventure.
