Alger Wilson is a sailor with supernatural powers in Lord of the Mysteries. He was among the first people pulled into the Tarot Club, a secret group that meets in a gray fog. Every member hides behind a code name, and his is The Hanged Man. The group is led by Klein Moretti, who calls himself The Fool.
Alger first appears in the opening episode, together with Audrey Hall. In episode 4, Klein raises both of them to Sequence Nine, called the Spectator. Klein then gives them a job: find clues about a figure called Emperor Roselle.
His powers follow the Seafarer path, so his life is tied to the sea and to risky travel.

Lord of Mysteries began as a Chinese web novel by an author who goes by Cuttlefish That Loves Diving. It was posted on the Qidian website from 2018 to 2020 and gained a huge audience in China and in English-speaking countries. The first season of the animated version came out in 2025, from the studio B.CMAY Pictures. It was directed by Xiong Ke and ran for 13 episodes from late June to mid September. This short set of bonus episodes goes with that first season. It gives viewers a few scenes that were not shown in the main run and that take place at the same time. To enjoy it, you should know the setting. The world looks a little like England in Victorian times, with gas lamps, steam machines, and foggy city streets. But it is also full of secret powers. Some people, called Beyonders, can gain special abilities by taking part in strange rituals. Dark gods, hidden churches, and cosmic horror lurk behind the scenes. The story blends mystery, steampunk, and fantasy into one world. The hero is Klein Moretti, a young man who wakes up in a new life and has to learn the rules of this strange place. In the main series, he starts a secret group that meets inside a gray, foggy space above the world. Its members take tarot names. Klein, hiding his true self, plays the role of The Fool, a mysterious figure who seems to know everything. The other members come to him with questions and trades, and they call on him for help. The bonus episodes focus on these meetings. In the first one, a new guest named Derrick Berg is called from a cursed place known as the City of Silver. He tells the group about his city's sad past, and he chooses a path of his own with The Fool's help. In the next two episodes, a member called The Hanged Man, whose real name is Alger Wilson, asks for help hunting a powerful pirate. Audrey Hall, who uses the name Justice, is a noble lady with influence in the capital city, and she takes on the job. Her search leads her to two other Beyonders. Klein also asks his mentor for help, and the plan works. The tone mixes cleverness with danger. Klein is smart but careful, and much of the fun comes from watching him bluff his way through, while hiding the fact that he is just as unsure as everyone else. The series has some scary and gory moments, so it is meant for older viewers. Fans of the series will like these specials as extra scenes that fill in the gaps. New viewers should start with the first season. These specials work best as a small treat for those who already know the Tarot Club and its members.
