Otaku Vampire’s Love Bite

Oshi ni Amagami is known in English as Otaku Vampire's Love Bite. It began as a romantic comedy manga by Julietta Suzuki. The manga runs in Hana to Yume, a Japanese magazine for girls, from the publisher Hakusensha. It started in November 2022 and had ten volumes by July 2026. Viz Media licensed the English edition in February 2024. A TV anime was announced on November 4, 2026. The sources I found do not give a studio or a premiere date, so those details are still unknown.

The word otaku means a person who is a big fan of anime, manga, or games. The title tells you the main idea. This is a story about a vampire who is also a fan. Vampire stories are often dark and scary. This one is bright and funny, and it plays with the idea in a gentle way.

The heroine is Hina Alucard. She is a vampire in modern times, and she lives in Romania. She does not hunt people. She drinks blood from packs, like medicine from a store. She is also a shut-in, which means she stays inside her home and does not go out. According to the story, she has not left the house in thirty years.

Her father wants to help her get out into the world. His idea is a gift. He gives her a DVD of an anime called Vampire Cross. This anime exists only inside the story. Hina falls in love with it at once. Her favorite is a character named Mao. She becomes a true fan, with all the joy and shyness that come with it.

But a fan in a bedroom in Romania can only go so far. She wants to enjoy her hobby fully, to talk about it, and to see the places and shops that fans love. So she makes a big choice. She leaves home and moves to Japan, the home of anime, to live her otaku dream. Another main character is Kyuuta Amanatsu, a person she meets in her new life.

The tone is light, sweet, and full of comedy. A lot of the humor comes from the gap between old vampire tales and Hina's very modern hobby. It also has romance, as the genre label tells us. The story is about finding friends, being brave enough to leave a safe room, and enjoying what you love without shame.

The manga was nominated for the 14th An An Manga Award in 2023. If you like warm comedy and stories about fan culture, this series is a good one to watch for.
