About
Yuuya Tenjou is back. This is season 2 of the anime known in English as I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in the Real World, Too. The new season was announced at the AnimeJapan event in March 2026, and it is planned to start in January 2027. Shin Itagaki, who led the first season, returns as director. Hiromi Kimura designs the characters, and Akiyuki Tateyama and Shiki make the music. Before this new season, a TV special about a legendary dragon also aired in 2026.
The show is based on a long-running light novel series by Miku, with art by Rein Kuwashima. A light novel is a Japanese book for teens and young adults that has some pictures. The books started as a web story in 2017 and now have more than twenty volumes. There is also a manga version by Kazuomi Minatogawa. Fans of the books know there is still a lot of story left to tell.
For new viewers, here is the basic idea. Yuuya was a sad, lonely boy. Kids at his school were cruel to him, and his parents did not care about him. The only kind person in his life was his grandfather. After his grandfather passed away, Yuuya moved into the old family house. There he found a door that opens to Argena, a fantasy world full of kingdoms, monsters, and magic. Stories where a hero travels to another world like this are called isekai.
In Argena, Yuuya can level up like a character in a role-playing game. He gets stronger, learns powerful skills, and even changes his looks. He becomes tall and fit. Best of all, he can travel home again, and his new power stays with him in modern Japan. So he can protect himself and others in both places.
Season 2 keeps this double life going. Yuuya still splits his time between his school in Japan and his adventures in Argena. Princess Lexia, the royal girl he saved in Argena, is still one of the main people at his side. She cares about him a lot, and her feelings for him are a big part of the fun. Other friends from the first season, like his school friend Kaori Houjou, are also part of his world. The new season promises more action and more of Yuuya's super strong powers. As in season 1, he faces dangers that are much bigger than school problems, from monsters to powerful enemies.
The series is known for its simple and cheerful style. It is a power fantasy, which means the fun comes from watching a weak person become very strong and kind. Yuuya never forgets how it felt to be alone, so he helps people who need it. The show also has light romance, with several girls who like him, and plenty of comedy between fights. If you enjoyed the first season, this one gives you more of the same easy, feel-good adventure. Because it is a sequel, it is best to watch season 1 first so you know the characters.
