HAIKYU!! TO THE TOP Part 2

Haikyu!! To the Top Part 2 is the second half of the fourth season of the volleyball anime Haikyu!!. Production I.G made it, and it has 12 episodes, numbered 74 to 85 in the full series. It was first planned to air in the summer of 2020. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was pushed back, and it finally aired from October 3 to December 19, 2020. The show is based on the manga by Haruichi Furudate.

This part is almost all about the national tournament. For years, the Karasuno High School volleyball club was not good enough to reach this level. Now the team is back, and it has already won its opening game against Tsubakihara Academy. Every game from here on is a do-or-die test. One loss sends the team home, so the pressure is very high for every player on the court.

Karasuno's next rival is Inarizaki High School. Inarizaki finished in second place at the same tournament the year before, so it is one of the top teams in the country. Its most famous players are the Miya twins, Atsumu and Osamu. Atsumu is a setter who is often called the best high school setter in Japan. The twins like to play in strange and clever ways, and they can surprise any team. Inarizaki also has a loud and well-organized cheering section. Their fans make the gym feel like a home game for them, which shakes Karasuno at the start.

The heart of this part is the long match between these two schools. Shoyo Hinata, the small but very fast middle blocker, and Tobio Kageyama, the talented setter, have to use everything they learned in the first half of the season. The rest of the team, including the captain Daichi Sawamura, also gets key moments. Karasuno's own fans and friends from home cheer them on and help them find their rhythm again. Slowly, the team builds its attack around Hinata's speed and starts to fight back.

The episode titles give a feel for the season. Names like "Cats vs Monkeys," "The Ultimate Challengers," and "Monsters' Ball" hint at fun rivalries and big, wild plays. The show also checks in on other teams at the tournament, so it feels like a real event with many stories happening at the same time, not just one game.

What makes this part stand out is its focus on one long, tense contest. Each point feels important, and the show takes time to show what players are thinking in the middle of a rally (a rally is the back-and-forth play before a point is won). It mixes high-energy action with moments of humor and quiet thought. It also asks simple but deep questions about why people play sports and what it means to love a game.

Haikyu!! is one of the most popular sports anime ever made. It was named one of the best anime of the 2010s by Polygon, Crunchyroll, and IGN, and Hinata won Best Boy at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards. To the Top Part 2 is a key step before the movie Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle, which shows Karasuno's long-awaited match against its old rival Nekoma at the same tournament.
