Gekkan! Nanmono Anime

Gekkan! Nanmono Anime is a tiny web anime from Yuri Yokomizo, the artist best known for Sumikko Gurashi, the cute corner-loving creatures seen on toys and stationery around Japan. The title roughly means "Monthly! Any and All Things Anime". It brings her newer cast, Nandemo Ikimono, to the screen. The first episode came out on April 30, 2025. A new episode is released about once a month, and each one runs only about a minute.

The idea behind Nandemo Ikimono is simple and playful. In this world, anything can be alive. A crab, a fox, a sea otter, a shrimp, a big ocean fish, and even a seaweed rice ball can all walk, talk, and have feelings. The cast also includes a zookeeper and a figure named Kojima. Each episode is a quick, gentle joke or a small slice of daily life among these round, soft-looking creatures. Some episodes include dancing, and the cast even covers aliens and food.

Because the clips are so brief, there is no long plot to follow. Viewers can start at any episode. The mood is calm, cheerful, and cute, and it is made for all ages. MyAnimeList rates it as suitable for children.

The anime is made by the studio Lesprit. Online guides list Eri Okada as director, with Yokomizo credited as the original creator and, by some sources, as chief director. The voice cast is full of well-known names. Akari Kito plays the fox, Aya Uchida plays the sea otter, Shiori Izawa plays the crab, Yoko Hikasa plays the big ocean fish, and Ai Fairouz plays the seaweed rice ball. Ikue Otani, the voice of Pikachu, also appears. Nobuhiko Okamoto voices the zookeeper and the narrator. The ending song, "Nanmono Ii jan", is sung by a group called Nanmono All Stars.

Episodes are posted for free on popular apps and video sites, including YouTube, so fans can watch on their phones in a minute or two.
