Tougen Anki's Nikko Kegon Falls Arc arrives October 2, after two nights of recap specials
Studio Hibari's second season of the Oni-versus-Momotaro action series starts Friday, October 2 in Nippon TV's Friday Anime Night block, adding Kenichi Suzumura, Yuki Kaji and Kisho Taniyama as Momotaro lab officers.
Anyone who needs a refresher before TOUGEN ANKI comes back gets two of them. A recap special covering the Kyoto Arc airs on September 30, and a second one for the Nerima Arc follows on October 1. The night after that, Friday, October 2, the second season, subtitled the Nikko Kegon Falls Arc, begins in Japan as part of Nippon TV's Friday Anime Night block.
Snow, shrine gates and a new front
The arc shifts the long war between Oni descendants and the Momotaro Agency to Nikko. The newest trailer sets its fights in a wintry landscape of forests, mountain vistas and red torii gates, a backdrop that makes the characters' crimson blood-based powers stand out.
At the center is still Shiki Ichinose, a young man who discovered he carries Oni blood, the ability to turn one's own blood into a weapon. The death of his foster father first drove him toward revenge, and training at Rasetsu Academy then put him alongside other Oni with motives of their own. The Momotaro Agency has hunted their kind for generations, and the new story sends Shiki's group on a fresh mission against more of its officers.
Three new faces on the Momotaro side
All three cast additions belong to the Agency's Kegon Falls Branch Laboratory:
- Kenichi Suzumura plays Kusabi Momoura, who runs the laboratory
- Yuki Kaji plays Hizumi Momotsugi, captain of its 10th unit
- Kisho Taniyama plays Senritsu Momoo, vice-captain of its 3rd unit
Behind the camera, Studio Hibari returns with Ato Nonaka directing and Hiroyuki Hashimoto as assistant director. Yukie Sugawara again oversees series composition and scripts, Ryoko Amisaki handles the character designs, Scott MacDonald is art director, and KOHTA YAMAMOTO writes the score. Hiromitsu Kitayama sings the new opening, "BACKLASH," while TRACK15 performs the ending, "Hand in Hand"; both can be heard in the trailer.
Streaming
Crunchyroll will carry the arc from its premiere everywhere except Japan and China. Distributor REMOW's announcement also lists a long roster of regional services, among them Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Rakuten Viki, ADN and Bilibili, so where it appears depends on the country.
The anime's first season premiered in July 2025 and ran for 24 episodes. It is based on Yura Urushibara's manga, serialized in Akita Shoten's Weekly Shonen Champion, which Yen Press releases in English under the title Tougen Anki: Legend of the Cursed Blood.
