The Vermilion Mask books its second cour for April 2027, days before the first one airs
One Double-O's two-part adaptation of Dr. Poro and Nabana Naba's dark fantasy manga premieres October 10 on Nippon TV-network stations and Crunchyroll, and now has a spring date for its second half.
The Vermilion Mask has its return date locked in before its debut has even aired. The TV anime, planned from the start as two separate cours, confirmed on October 8 that part two begins in April 2027.
Part one kicks off on October 10, 2026, across Nippon News Network affiliates such as ytv and Nippon TV, while Crunchyroll handles streaming. In Southeast Asia, Medialink has the rights.
A mask that takes over
The show adapts Shuiro no Kamen, Dr. Poro's dark fantasy, illustrated by Nabana Naba, which has run in Shonen Gahosha's seinen anthology Young King OURs since February 2021. Its ninth book appeared in July 2026, and Orange Inc. sells it digitally in English.
Peru d'Arrest is a trainee under the celebrated craftsman Gaston Roux, whose masks hand their wearers great power. Slipping on the Mask of the Warrior God, Peru loses himself to it and slaughters his companions and his teacher. Horrified, he swears to hunt down and smash every mask Gaston ever made, scattered across the land, and travels in search of them as penance.
Voices and staff
Taihi Kimura leads as Peru. Veterans fill the older roles: Kazuhiko Inoue is Gaston, and Akio Otsuka speaks for the Warrior God mask. The September reveal brought in Kenji Nojima (Hien), Aoi Koga (Lasgarl), Aya Endo (the Mask of Necromancy) and Yui Horie (Master), and Junya Enoki appears as Zent.
One Double-O, also known as 100studio, is the production house, with Tetsuaki Watanabe in the director's chair and Gai Hazako assisting. Daisuke Ohigashi oversees the scripts, which the manga's two creators check, while Hisashi Higashijima doubles as character designer and chief animation director. Yoshiki Kuga devised the masks and monsters, the outfit Hyperbole animates the mask effects, and Alisa Okehazama provides the soundtrack.
The band MAN WITH A MISSION is behind the opener, "Firestarter," and yutori handles the closer, "Koe"; both featured in the September promo.
Anime Expo 2025 was where the adaptation was first revealed. After this weekend's premiere, the next marker on its calendar is the April return.
