Star Detective Precure! film tops every standalone Precure movie with 1.24 billion yen in its first month
Toei Animation's film, in Japanese theaters since September 18, drew 977,000 admissions in a month. Only the 2023 crossover Precure All Stars Movie F has earned more in the franchise.
One month after opening, Star Detective Precure! The Movie: The Mysterious Garden and a Secret Pair has earned 1.24 billion yen from 977,000 admissions in Japan, according to figures the film's official X account posted on October 18 and reported by Anime.com. No standalone Precure film has grossed more.
The all-time franchise record is still out of reach for now. Precure All Stars Movie F, the 2023 crossover made for the series' 20th anniversary, finished with 1.54 billion yen and 1.23 million admissions, so the new film sits roughly 300 million yen behind it.
It has been setting pace records since its first weekend. Toei Animation's film opened on Friday, September 18, selling 78,072 tickets for about 100.27 million yen on day one, which AGARA reported as the best opening day for a Friday release in the series. Across the first three days it took 445,584,150 yen from 357,612 admissions, narrowly beating the opening of All Stars F (356,925 admissions and 437,001,330 yen when it launched on September 15, 2023).
The climb after that was steady:
- Day 6: 606,000 admissions, 746 million yen
- Day 10: 740,000 admissions, 900 million yen
- Day 17: 860,000 admissions, 1 billion yen, the quickest any Precure film has reached that mark
AGARA also reported that the film's team has said it expects the run could approach 2 billion yen, a figure no Precure film has reached.
The movie ties into Star Detective Precure!, the TV series that began on February 1, 2026 and is still airing, with characters from Kimi to Idol Precure♪ and Wonderful Precure! also appearing on screen. Alongside the new totals, Toei released four stills spotlighting the film's fairy characters.
