In this storyNull Meta

An android who isn't very bright, the eccentric guardian who looks after her, and two classmates who get pulled into their routine: that is the whole cast of Null Meta (Nurumeta), and it is heading to television in 2027.

Aniplex launched the adaptation's website and X account on Sunday, October 18. The first wave of material was a teaser visual, the main staff list, and a congratulatory illustration drawn by the manga's creator, Kokamumo. Nothing has been said yet about voice actors, a broadcaster, or a specific premiere date.

The people behind it

The headline name is the director. Kai Ikarashi is the director of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, and the official site notes that Null Meta will be the first television anime he has helmed. The site's pitch leans on his reputation for striking visuals across a long list of animation work.

Animation comes from Soigne, the studio behind mono and Kamiina Botan, Yoeru Sugata wa Yuri no Hana. Tatsuya Takahashi, whose credits include THE IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls, is in charge of series composition, while Shin Ogasawara, who worked on the Pokémon: Twilight Wings web series, is designing the characters. Aniplex is producing.

From Pixiv to Kirara

Kokamumo started the story in 2018 as a web comic posted online, with Pixiv among the places it appeared, and MyAnimeList adds that a self-published run on Niconico Seiga followed. It later moved into print as a four-panel series in Houbunsha's Manga Time Kirara MAX, and six collected volumes have been released as of this year. According to MyAnimeList, the online and magazine versions do not line up exactly; some settings and the order of events differ between them.

The four leads are Kurumi, an artificial human; Chiaki, her guardian; Sakina, who is cool and goes at her own pace; and Shiyuki, presented by the official site as the group's lone voice of common sense, with a question mark attached. The site frames the manga as an "alternative" take on the everyday comedy genre, one that deliberately strays outside the usual boundaries of the format.

AniList lists the project as a TV series due in 2027 under comedy and slice of life.
