Madoka Magica and Witch on the Holy Night team up in Japan with a Shaft x ufotable visual and a two-film poster campaign
Aniplex's crossover between Walpurgisnacht Rising and ufotable's Mahoyo film, which opens November 20, offers an exclusive poster to fans who see one and pre-book the other, plus a Shinjuku Wald 9 banner and flyers at Machi Asobi.

Two of Aniplex's 2026 magical films are sharing a poster. Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie -Walpurgisnacht: Rising-, still playing in Japanese theaters, and ufotable's Witch on the Holy Night, which opens November 20, launched a joint campaign on October 14, complete with a collaboration video and a single illustration drawn jointly by the two films' studios, Shaft and ufotable.
The centerpiece is that artwork, and the only way to own it as a poster is to watch one film and commit to the other. Anyone who sees Walpurgisnacht: Rising between October 14 and November 6 and also holds a Mubichike advance ticket (Japan's prepaid movie-ticket service) for Witch on the Holy Night can apply, submitting a photo of the Madoka ticket stub or its entry QR code. Applications stay open until 11:59 p.m. on November 9, and Aniplex says the poster will not be offered any other way.
The visual is also going up in public. From October 17 to October 29, a large banner hangs at Shinjuku Wald 9 in Tokyo, where B5 flyers bearing the illustration are handed out from 10 a.m. on October 17 at the ninth-floor information counter. More flyers go out on October 17 and 18 at the Machi Asobi festival in Tokushima, outside what used to be Mizuho Bank's Tokushima branch. Both giveaways end early if stock runs out.
As the opening gesture of the tie-up, the official Madoka account posted comments from Aoi Yuuki, the voice of Madoka Kaname, and Haruka Tomatsu, who is Aoko Aozaki in the ufotable film.
The pairing rests on timing. Aniplex's campaign page frames both as works about their own kind of magic returning to cinemas in 2026 after roughly a decade. Walpurgisnacht: Rising opened on August 28 and carries the Madoka story forward about 13 years after 2013's Rebellion. Witch on the Holy Night is the first theatrical animated version of TYPE-MOON's visual novel, which came out around 14 years ago.
