Ten months after it opened, Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe is going back on the big screen. Bandai Namco Filmworks will run the Sunrise film in theaters across Japan for two weeks, December 11 through 24, to mark its home-video release on January 27, 2027. Pre-orders for the discs opened on October 15.

The film premiered in Japan on January 30, 2026, and by October had taken more than 2.7 billion yen from over 1.59 million admissions. It is the sequel to the 2021 film Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway, adapted from Yoshiyuki Tomino's novels, and AniList also lists a third film, under a provisional title and still without a date.

What the re-release offers

The encore screens the master prepared for streaming and Blu-ray, formatted for cinemas, at each theater's normal ticket price. Screening venues will also sell a Blu-ray limited edition that comes with the recording script, and only there; ticket holders can buy it from December 11, a month and a half before the general release, with a cap of three items for each stub or entry QR code shown. On December 12, Hathaway's voice, Kensho Ono, and Gigi's, Reina Ueda, take the stage in Tokyo alongside producer Keisuke Kasai and director Shuko Murase, with details to follow.

For anyone who missed it: the story takes place in the year U.C. 0105, a dozen years on from Char's rebellion. Hathaway Noa leads Mafti, an armed movement against the Earth Federation, and is preparing to strike the Adelaide Conference while drawn in by the enigmatic Gigi Andalucia, as Federation officer Kenneth Sleg works to crush the group.

Five ways to own it

The cheapest option in January is the DVD at 5,000 yen; a plain Blu-ray costs 6,000 yen and the 4K Ultra HD disc 8,000 yen, all prices including tax. Stepping up, the special edition Blu-ray (11,000 yen) adds two extra discs, and the limited edition (13,000 yen) puts five audiobook CDs on top of those.

On the extra discs are a recap of the story, footage of the stage greetings held in January 2026, and Hiroyuki Sawano's March concert THE SOUND OF U.C.0105. The audiobook covers the middle volume of Tomino's novel, narrated by Nozomu Sasaki, the original Hathaway of Char's Counterattack, and the limited edition also includes that volume in print. Every version apart from the 4K disc carries a commentary track, with Ono and Junichi Suwabe covering the first half, and comes in a sleeve case drawn by character designer pablo uchida.

Retailers are offering their own extras for the two premium Blu-rays, from a set of 20 staff-selected replica cels to a storage box, acrylic stand and A3 clear poster. Several carry fresh artwork from Naoyuki Onda and Shigeki Kuhara, two of the film's character designers, and from mecha designer Seiichi Nakatani.
