Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 puts Weak, D, Talia and Roman in a new poster and final trailer days before its October 20 Netflix launch
Studio TRIGGER's second trip to Night City drops all 10 episodes on Netflix on October 20. The last trailer, set to Petite Meller, hints at the Blackwall and the Biochip from Cyberpunk 2077.
Six days out from its premiere, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 gave Netflix viewers one more look at Night City. A new poster key visual and what Final Weapon calls a seemingly final trailer went out on October 14, ahead of the October 20 release of all 10 episodes, streaming only on Netflix.
The footage centers on the four leads introduced earlier this year and nods to the Blackwall and the Biochip, two elements that drove the story of CD PROJEKT RED's game Cyberpunk 2077. Netflix's own description promises viewers they will "Follow Roman, Talia, D, King, and more," and RPG Site identifies the trailer's music as "High Forever (Marlon Hoffstadt Remix)" by Petite Meller.
The new crew
- Weak Kingsley, once known as "King," is a veteran edgerunner still living off a reputation that has faded. Clancy Brown voices him in English and Kentaro Tone in Japanese.
- D is a netrunner from Snake Nation, hunting whoever wiped out his clan, played by Nazeeh Tarsha and Koki Uchiyama.
- Talia Yang grew up in the corporate towers, was toughened by Maelstrom and is fixated on her gang's chrome; Kimoy Lee and Akari Kito voice her.
- Roman Carax is a young film lover recording real lives in a city that has swapped cinema for braindance, voiced by Valeria Rodriguez and Momoka Terasawa.
Same studio, new story
Studio TRIGGER, which made the first series, is animating again. Director Kai Ikarashi previously directed "Girl on Fire," the sixth episode of the original. Ichigo Kanno designs the characters, Masahiko Otsuka writes the screenplay, and Bartosz Sztybor of CD PROJEKT RED returns as showrunner, story writer and producer. Netflix pitches the season as a standalone 10-episode tale, which Anime Corner quotes as "a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge."
The soundtrack has already been laid out. The Cure perform the opening theme, "10:15 Saturday Night," and Petite Meller also sings the original ending theme, "Watson." Final Weapon adds that Rico Nasty recorded "You Can't Run From Me" specifically for the anime, and that DOUDOU's "A Rusty Dream" is featured as well.
The first Cyberpunk: Edgerunners premiered on Netflix in September 2022 with 10 episodes, two years after Cyberpunk 2077 launched in December 2020. A prequel manga about Rebecca and Pilar has been running since December 2024.
