A new Naruto limited TV anime will be unveiled at New York Comic Con on October 10
VIZ Media and Pierrot will reveal the first details of a new Naruto TV anime limited series at the "NARUTO: What's Next?" stage on Naruto Uzumaki's birthday, streamed worldwide on YouTube.
Naruto is heading back to television, and the first real look arrives on its hero's birthday. VIZ Media says a new Naruto TV anime, described as a limited series, will be detailed during a stage called "NARUTO: What's Next?" at New York Comic Con 2026.
The franchise's X account kept the tease to a single line: "Details on the New NARUTO TV Anime Limited Series will be revealed at the NARUTO Special Stage." Nothing about the story, episode count or premiere window has been shared yet, and the official Japanese site is only promising "world premiere information" about what it calls a completely new anime.
Tuning in to the reveal
The panel is booked for Saturday, October 10, running one hour from 5 p.m. EDT on the Empire Stage of New York's Javits Center. That date was picked to coincide with Naruto Uzumaki's birthday; the convention as a whole spans October 8 to 11. Anyone outside Manhattan can follow along on the official NARUTO / BORUTO YouTube channel, which will carry the stage live around the world. In Japan, that works out to 6 a.m. on Sunday, October 11.
Familiar voices on stage
Junko Takeuchi, who has voiced Naruto in Japanese since the first series, will appear with Noriaki Sugiyama, the Japanese voice of Sasuke Uchiha. Rounding out the lineup is Yoshihiro Tominaga of Studio Pierrot, an executive producer at the company's Pierrot Films label. Pierrot has been the animation house behind the Naruto TV series across its whole broadcast history.
Anime news won't be the only item on the agenda. Bandai's Naruto Card Game, headed for a worldwide release in 2027, gets fresh details and a promotional video during the same hour. A countdown website for the stage is already up.
The anniversary episodes still waiting
The announcement lands more than three years after a separate project was unveiled: in March 2023, four new episodes were announced to celebrate the TV anime's 20th anniversary. They were first slated for September 2023 in Japan, then postponed so the staff could raise the quality of the production. Neither VIZ nor Pierrot has said whether the limited series and those episodes are the same thing, so that remains an open question until the stage.
Where the franchise stands
Masashi Kishimoto's manga ran in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump between September 1999 and November 2014 and fills 72 volumes; VIZ Media handles the English edition. The first TV anime was broadcast from October 2002 to February 2007, and Naruto Shippuden carried the story on from February 2007 through March 2017. Crunchyroll streams both. The next generation lives on in Boruto, whose manga began in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2016 before moving to V Jump in 2019, and whose own anime premiered in April 2017.
Away from animation, Lionsgate is developing a live-action Naruto feature that Destin Daniel Cretton will direct and co-write; an open call for the roles of Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura began on July 10.
