Ylva

Ylva is the older sister of Thorfinn, the main character of Vinland Saga. She is the daughter of Thors and Helga, and the family lives in a small village in Iceland.

When Ylva is still young, her life changes suddenly. Her father leaves home, and her little brother sneaks away to go with him. Their father is killed, and Thorfinn then disappears for many years, following the man responsible in the hope of getting revenge. With both of them gone, Ylva takes over running the household and caring for their mother.

Ylva is strong-willed, capable, and practical. She works hard and carries the heavy load of family life, doing whatever needs to be done to keep things going at home. Years later, she marries Ari, who was Thorfinn's friend when they were children, and the couple go on to have four children together.
