Semiu Grier works at the front desk of the Cleaners headquarters, where she manages mission assignments and keeps the whole team's schedule running smoothly. She takes her job seriously, often starting work the moment the sun rises, and she prefers to handle things quickly and efficiently rather than waste time.
Unlike most Cleaners, Semiu's special tool, which she calls Eyes, is not built for fighting Trash Beasts directly. Instead, it lets her see a person's true potential as a Giver, the term for someone who can use these special powers at all. She uses this ability to judge new recruits, including Rudo, telling him early on that his raw potential is high but still needs real training to become useful in battle.
Confident and no-nonsense, Semiu treats her coworkers, including Enjin and his team, with straightforward honesty rather than extra warmth. Because her power lets her see things about people that even they do not know about themselves, she sometimes uncovers surprising truths about a Giver's hidden abilities. Though she stays mostly behind the scenes, Semiu's judgment about who has real potential plays an important role in shaping how the Cleaners organize their teams.

Gachiakuta is an action fantasy anime made by the studio Bones Film and directed by Fumihiko Suganuma. It first aired in Japan on July 6, 2025. The show is based on a manga by Kei Urana, which has run in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine since February 2022. One special detail: the manga's graffiti art, the bold spray-paint style lettering and designs you see on walls, is made by a separate artist, Hideyoshi Ando. That street-art look carries into the anime and gives it a rough, punk energy. The world is split in two. High above is the Sphere, a floating society where people with money live in comfort. Far below is the Ground, a poisoned wasteland. The people of the Sphere treat it like a dump and throw their trash down there. Over time, all that waste has given birth to dangerous monsters called Trash Beasts. The hero is Rudo Surebrec, a poor young scavenger, which means someone who survives by digging through and reusing things others throw away. Rudo lives with his adoptive father, the man who raised him. When his father is killed, Rudo is blamed for the crime, even though he did not do it. As punishment, he is thrown down to the Ground like a piece of garbage. Rudo is angry and hurt, and he wants revenge on the people who did this to him. On the Ground, Rudo learns he has a rare gift. He is a "Giver," a person who can fill ordinary objects with spirit and turn them into powerful weapons called Vital Instruments. Things that mean a lot to their owners become the strongest tools of all. This fits Rudo well, because he has always cared about old objects that others see as worthless. Rudo is soon found by Enjin, who brings him into the Cleaners, a group that fights Trash Beasts with Vital Instruments. There he meets other members, including Zanka and Riyo. These are prickly, strong-willed people, and Rudo has to learn to work with them. Over time, the team becomes a kind of chosen family for a boy who lost the only family he had. The show is about more than big fights. It looks at the gap between rich and poor, and at how a society decides which people, and which things, are "trash." Its themes include survival, class struggle, and the value of what others throw away. Taku Iwasaki composed the music, with the opening "Hugs" by Paledusk and the ending "Tomoshibi" by Dustcell. The manga won the shonen category of the 50th Kodansha Manga Award, and a second anime season was announced after the first season ended. The anime streams on Crunchyroll, and its English dub began airing on Adult Swim's Toonami block in October 2026.
