Victoria of Many Faces

Victoria of Many Faces is a gentle fantasy drama about a former spy who wants a quiet, normal life. Studio Deen made the anime, with Nobukage Kimura as director. It aired on TV Tokyo and AT-X from July 8 to September 2, 2026, with nine episodes, and it streams on Crunchyroll. A second season and a special episode have already been announced. The story is based on light novels by Syuu. It began online in 2021 on the site Shousetsuka ni Narou, and Media Factory started printing it in July 2022. There is also a manga drawn by Komo Ushino. In English, the books come from Yen Press.

The heroine's real name is Chloe. For years, she worked as a spy for the Kingdom of Hagl. She was very good at her job. She could change her looks, fight, sneak, and read people easily. But one day, the group she served turned against her. Chloe knew that she was no longer safe. So she ran away and left that dangerous life behind for good.

She travels to another land, the Kingdom of Ashbury (the name is sometimes spelled Ashberry). There, she takes on a new name: Victoria Sellers. Her dream is small and simple. She wants a calm, ordinary life with no secrets, no enemies, and no danger. She just wants to live like everyone else.

That plan does not stay simple for long. Victoria meets Nonna, a little girl who has been left all alone. Victoria cannot just walk away, so she takes Nonna in and starts to raise her. A knight also becomes part of their lives, and the three slowly grow close. Without planning it, Victoria builds a small family of her own. This part of the story is warm and sweet, with daily moments of cooking, caring, and learning to trust.

The title's 'many faces' comes from Victoria's hidden skills. In Japanese, the title means something like 'Victoria has a lot of cards in her hand.' She has many tricks she learned as a spy. At first, she tries to hide them. But again and again, small problems in her new town can be solved with her old talents. She can spot a lie, protect someone in trouble, or move without being seen. The fun of the show is seeing these spy skills used for kind, everyday reasons.

There is also tension under the calm surface. Victoria's past is still out there. People from her old life may come looking for her. The more she loves her new family, the more she has to lose. This adds some action and suspense to the gentle story.
