Shiotaiou no Satou-san ga Ore ni dake Amai

The Salty Koharu Has a Soft Spot for Me is a sweet high school romantic comedy. The TV anime premieres on October 6, 2026. Tezuka Productions, the studio founded by the famous manga artist Osamu Tezuka, is making it, with Fumihiro Yoshimura as director. The story comes from a light novel series by Kazami Sawatari, with art by Achiki. It first ran as a web novel from 2019 to 2021, and Shogakukan published it under its Gagaga Bunko label from December 2019. A manga version drawn by Kaya Tetsuyama began in May 2020 on the MangaONE app and the Ura Sunday website. It had ten volumes by March 2026.

In Japanese, "shio taiou," or "salty treatment," means acting cold and short with other people. That is how everyone at school sees Koharu Sato. She is very pretty, and many boys admire her, but she answers everyone in a flat, unfriendly way. Her classmates think of her as a beautiful flower that no one can reach.

Sota Oshio is her classmate. He is friendly, outgoing, and easy to talk to. After school, he works part-time at his family's cafe, and he is also good at running the cafe's social media account. One day, Koharu comes to the cafe, and a group of boys will not leave her alone. Oshio steps in to help her. After that, things begin to change.

Oshio starts to see a side of Koharu that no one else knows. Her cold attitude is really a shield she uses to protect herself. With him, she smiles, gets shy, and can be very cute, even if she is not very good at taking photos. At the same time, Koharu sees a side of Oshio that others do not. She notices how hard he works at the cafe, and his playful, teasing smile makes her heart race. The story often switches between his point of view and hers, so viewers can see how both of them feel.

The series is a gentle, "pure" romance about first love. Both main characters are new to dating, so there are a lot of awkward, sweet, and sometimes frustrating moments as they slowly get closer.
