Seirei Gensouki 3

Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles Season 3 is the newly announced third anime season of the fantasy series based on the light novels by Yuri Kitayama, with illustrations by Riv. The news came on September 30, 2026. Studio TMS Entertainment, which made the first two seasons, is making this one as well. Osamu Yamasaki returns as director and also handles series composition, which means he plans how the story is split across the episodes. Kyoko Yufu is the character designer and chief animation director, and Yasuyuki Yamazaki is writing the music. A release date has not been shared yet.

The series so far follows Rio, a young swordsman in a world of magic who also carries the memories of a past life in Japan, where he was a student named Haruto Amakawa. Rio grew up as a poor orphan after his mother was killed, rose through a noble school where he was treated badly, and became a master of spirit arts, a kind of magic that works with spirits. The first season aired in 2021 and the second in 2024. In the second season, people from Japan began to appear in the fantasy world, including Miharu, the childhood friend Haruto had always wanted to see again. Rio chose to protect them while still holding on to his wish for revenge.

At the time of the announcement, few plot details were given for the new season. In a message to fans, author Yuri Kitayama said the third season will focus on the feelings Rio must face as he chooses between the people from his past and the people in his present life. The author also said the theme is how important it is to put your feelings into words and share them with others. Kitayama thanked fans in Japan and around the world for their strong support after Season 2 ended, which helped make a new season possible.

Based on the story so far, viewers can expect the same mix that defines the series: sword and magic battles, gentle romance, and a hero who cares deeply for the people around him. More details, such as the cast and the premiere date, are expected to be shared closer to release.
