Grand Blue Dreaming Season 3

Grand Blue Dreaming Season 3 is the newest chapter of one of anime's wildest college comedies. It was produced by the studios Zero-G and Saber Works, with director Shinji Takamatsu returning. It aired for 12 episodes on MBS from July 7 to September 22, 2026. The opening song is "Natsuko" by Funky Monkey Babys, and the ending song, "Hadaka no Mermaid" (Naked Mermaid), is by Mameshiba no Taigun. A fourth season has already been announced. It is best to watch seasons 1 and 2 first, though each episode is mostly easy to follow.

The series is based on the manga (Japanese comic) written by Kenji Inoue and drawn by Kimitake Yoshioka. It has run in Kodansha's Good! Afternoon magazine since 2014 and has sold more than 8 million copies. The main character is Iori Kitahara, a college student who moved to the seaside Izu Peninsula for school. He lives above Grand Blue, his uncle's scuba diving shop. Scuba diving means swimming deep underwater using an air tank. Iori expected a normal, bright campus life. Instead, he got pulled into Peek a Boo, a diving club full of muscular older students. They seem to spend more time drinking, partying, and taking off their clothes than actually diving.

Iori's best friend is Kohei Imamura, a big anime fan who is just as easily dragged into trouble. His cousins, Chisa and Nanaka Kotegawa, both help at the dive shop. Chisa is a serious diver who is often not amused by Iori's behavior. The club members Shinji Tokita and Ryujiro Kotobuki are the leaders of the chaos, and Azusa Hamaoka is another fun club member.

In season 3, the story travels far from Izu. Iori is asked by family to help get a new dive shop running on a tropical island in Palau, a small island country in the Pacific Ocean. Just when he was getting used to university life, he is now heading overseas for the summer. The water is blue and clear, and the diving spots are stunning. But with his party-loving friends around, the trip is sure to turn into a mess of drinking games, crazy ideas, and embarrassing mistakes.

The humor is loud and silly. It is full of slapstick, meaning physical, over-the-top comedy, as well as shocked faces and plenty of nudity played for laughs. The show also loves to twist simple situations into huge misunderstandings. Under all the jokes, though, there is a real love for the ocean. The diving scenes are calm and beautiful, and they show why the characters care about this hobby. Please note that the show's jokes often involve heavy drinking by adults. It is a fun, feel-good pick for viewers who want to laugh hard.
