FX Fighter Kurumi-chan

FX Fighter Kurumi-chan is a comedy-drama about money, risk, and the thrill and pain of trading. "FX" stands for foreign exchange, which is the buying and selling of different countries' money, such as dollars and yen, to try to earn a profit from changes in their value. The TV anime premieres on October 1, 2026, on AT-X and other channels. It is made by studio Passione and directed by Yuki Ogawa, with Kenta Ihara writing the series structure. Aina Suzuki sings both the opening and the ending songs. Crunchyroll streams it outside Japan.

The story began in October 2016 as a free web comic on the personal website of its creator, Demunyan. In February 2021, it moved to Media Factory's Monthly Comic Flapper magazine, with art by Daisuki Tansan. The manga had ten volumes by September 2026.

The main character is Kurumi Fukuga, a 20-year-old university student. Her life has a painful background. Years ago, after the world financial crisis of 2008, her mother lost 20 million yen, a huge amount of money, through risky FX trading. Her mother could not recover from the loss and later died. Kurumi now wants to win that money back, as if to prove something for her mother. She finally opens her own trading account. She is sure it will be easy.

It is not. The FX market can change in an instant, and Kurumi learns this quickly. One moment, she is winning and feels like a genius. The next, she is losing money and panicking. She has to learn hard lessons about losses she has not yet "locked in," about cutting a losing trade before it gets worse, and about how prices can move without warning. She also keeps making choices driven by feelings instead of careful thinking.

She is not alone. Mochiko Kogane is her classmate, very smart but hard to get along with, and she pulls Kurumi deeper into trading. Mebuki Yamashi is another trader. Yasuko Takane once ran a finance blog, and after money trouble of her own, she is now trying to become a manga artist. Together, the four ride the ups and downs of the market.

The show mixes dark jokes with a serious look at gambling-like behavior and the danger of chasing losses. It is funny and a little scary at the same time. It is aimed at adult viewers and handles themes such as debt and a parent's death, so it may not suit younger audiences.
