Some clubs exist to win tournaments; Naoki's exists to make the trip home take as long as possible. The anime of Mai Matsuda's Walking Home with You (Houkago Kitaku Biyori) unveiled a teaser visual on October 7, together with a new illustration drawn by Matsuda to mark the occasion, and confirmed that it will start airing in April 2027 on Nippon TV.

That makes this the first concrete scheduling news since the adaptation was announced in March 2025. The studio, staff and voice cast have still not been revealed.

The story centers on Shun, who was a standout soccer player in middle school until an injury ended that path, leaving him drifting through high school without much direction. He is pulled out of that rut by Naoki, an odd older student who runs the self-styled "Hyper-Epic Heading Home Club" entirely on her own. Under her rules, the walk home becomes an outing of detours, small discoveries and treasure hunts. AniList lists the series under comedy, romance and slice of life.

Matsuda, whose other work includes Hikaru in the Light!, has been running the manga in Futabasha's Manga Action since August 2023, with chapters also carried on the publisher's Web Action service. The seventh collected volume went on sale on October 8, the day after the anime update. Omoi publishes the series in English.
