The Kept Man of the Princess Knight's main PV reveals MYTH & ROID opening "TRUE-TABOO" and three new cast members
Blade's January 2027 anime of Toru Shirogane's light novels also named sajou no hana for the ending and showed Matthew and Arwin tangled in a counterfeit-money case in Gray Neighbor.
Counterfeit coins are circulating in Gray Neighbor, and Matthew and Arwin are caught in the middle of it. That case drives the first main promotional video for The Kept Man of the Princess Knight (Himekishi-sama no Himo), which debuted on October 3 during the show's segment of the Dengeki Bunko Autumn Festival Online 2026, a livestream carried by ABEMA. Dengeki Bunko is the KADOKAWA imprint that publishes Toru Shirogane's original novels.
The trailer doubles as a music reveal. MYTH & ROID sings the opening, "TRUE-TABOO," a portion of which plays in the video, and sajou no hana provides the ending, "Gika" ("False Flower"). Character designer Hisao Ishii also drew a new key visual of the two leads pressing on together while keeping a secret nobody else is aware of.
Three newcomers appear in the PV. Rie Takahashi plays Vanessa, who works as an appraiser at the adventurers' guild; Rika Nagae voices April, the guild master's granddaughter; and a dwarf adventurer named Dez rounds out the trio. They join Junichi Suwabe as Matthew and Mikako Komatsu as Arwin.
The premise is set in a crime-ridden dungeon city. Arwin, known as the Crimson Princess Knight, takes her party into the labyrinth in search of a legendary treasure that could restore her ruined kingdom. Matthew lives off her money and is scorned around town as a coward, yet no one suspects what he is actually capable of. Yen Press, which publishes the novels in English, notes in its description of a later volume that he carries a curse that saps his strength whenever he is out of the sun. Saki Mashima illustrates the books.
Blade is producing the anime under director Chihiro Kumano, with Deko Akao on series composition and Taku Iwasaki on music. The adaptation and its January 2027 window were first announced in June 2026 alongside a teaser; the series will air on Japanese TV and streaming that month, though neither the exact date nor any overseas platform has been confirmed.
