The Fake Alchemist anime casts Yōhei Matsuoka and Miyari Nemoto in first teaser
Kadokawa's first teaser for The Fake Alchemist names its leads and a Passione staff led by chief director Takeo Takahashi; no premiere date has been set.
A reincarnated man with no fighting ability, a shaman girl he bought at a slave market, and an alchemy-driven plan to get by in a harsh fantasy world: that is the setup of The Fake Alchemist (Nisemono no Renkinjutsushi), whose TV anime showed its first teaser on September 24. Kadokawa's video also put names to the two leads, with Yōhei Matsuoka voicing Paracelsus and Miyari Nemoto playing Nora.
The staff list carries a clear Spice and Wolf lineage. Chief director Takeo Takahashi directed the original Spice and Wolf anime, and director Hijiri Sanpei worked on the recent remake, Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf. Kenta Ihara writes the scripts, Yuka Takashina adapts the characters, Luke Standridge provides the score, and Passione, a studio also behind From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman, is animating.
In the story, Paracelsus lands in the city-state of Orichalconia, takes in Nora, and then tries to rescue an elf called Coco, a choice that escalates dramatically. Jirō Sugiura writes the manga and Umemaru illustrates it; it launched on Kadokawa's KadoComi site in June 2023, and Yen Press handles the English release.
No premiere date or broadcast and streaming partners have been revealed yet.
