Overwatch turns five heroes into Solo Leveling's Hunters and Shadows for a three-week Shadow Monarch crossover
From October 6 to 26, Genji becomes Sung Jinwoo and Reaper becomes Igris as Blizzard's limited-time collaboration launches alongside Overwatch Season 5.

Sung Jinwoo has a new body to inhabit: Genji's. Blizzard's Overwatch opened a limited-time crossover with Solo Leveling on October 6, running through October 26 and launching together with the game's Season 5. Blizzard's own announcement brands it Overwatch x Shadow Monarch, after the title Jinwoo earns in the story, rather than using the franchise name.
Five heroes get makeovers. Genji is Jinwoo himself, the weakest-ranked Hunter who rises to lead an army of the dead. Reaper becomes Igris, the crimson-armored knight who serves as one of Jinwoo's Shadow Soldiers, and Reinhardt is Iron, a one-time A-Rank Hunter who ends up in that same Shadow Army. On the living side, Anran takes the role of the S-Rank Hunter Cha Hae-In, and Lifeweaver dresses as Choi Jong-In, the S-Rank mage who runs his own guild.
The event page carries collaboration art and a "MegaBundle" image, but Blizzard has not said what the skins cost or whether they can be bought one at a time.
The crossover is only one piece of a busy Season 5. The update adds a new support hero, Doctrine — the tenth hero released this year — and an Escort map set in Grímsvötn. Roadhog is being reworked, and Sombra is changing roles entirely, moving from damage to support. The battle pass also carries a Halloween lineup, including Legendary skins such as Ghostly Belle Ashe and Ghost Bride Mei.
For Solo Leveling, the collaboration lands between bigger projects. The A-1 Pictures anime has run for two seasons, both streaming on Crunchyroll with subtitles and English dubs, and a film continuing the story, Solo Leveling: Beyond the System, was announced at Anime Expo 2026. Netmarble is also preparing Solo Leveling: KARMA, an action RPG for Android, iOS and PC set during the Monarch War, and Netflix has a Korean live-action series in the works with Byeon Woo-seok cast as Jinwoo.
