One Piece anime goes on break after episode 1180 ends its first Elbaf batch
Episode 1180 aired September 27, closing the run of Elbaf episodes that began in April under Toei's new seasonal schedule; no return date has been announced.
September 27 brought episode 1180 of One Piece, and with it the end of the anime's current block. The Elbaf arc episodes that started on April 5, 2026 are now finished for the moment, and Toei Animation has not yet said when episode 1181 will air.
The pause is by design. Toei moved the long-running series, on air since 1999, from its traditional year-round weekly schedule to a seasonal model of roughly 26 new episodes a year. The change is meant to give the staff more production time and keep the anime from catching up too quickly with Eiichiro Oda's manga, where the Elbaf storyline is already much further along.
The next confirmed stop for the franchise is theatrical. At ONE PIECE DAY'26 on August 23, Toei announced ONE PIECE FILM GOD VALLEY for 2027, positioned as a 30th-anniversary project for the manga. It takes its name from the God Valley Incident, a long-teased piece of the story's past that the manga explores through a flashback during the Elbaf saga.
