Now That We Draw sets a January 2027 premiere with its first full trailer
The fake-dating romcom about two rejected teenage manga artists will air in winter 2027 from studio ROLL2, starring Ayumu Murase and Sayumi Suzushiro.
Two high schoolers both get told their romance manga lacks any convincing romance, and their fix is to pretend to date each other for research. That is the setup of Now That We Draw, whose TV anime confirmed a January 2027 debut on September 24 in a first full trailer, released with new character art.
Ayumu Murase plays Yuuki Uehara, the aspiring artist whose manuscript was turned down, and Sayumi Suzushiro plays Niina Miyamoto, the gyaru classmate chasing the same goal. Shunsuke Ishikawa is directing at ROLL2. Series composition goes to Deko Akao, whose credits include Komi Can't Communicate, while Hiromi Nakagawa adapts the character designs. No streaming partner has been named yet.
The adaptation was first announced in November 2025, and its key visual followed at AnimeJapan in March. Kyu Takahata writes and Yuwji Kaba draws the original manga, running in Hakusensha's seinen magazine Young Animal since February 2023; its eighth volume is due in Japan on September 29, and Seven Seas publishes it in English.
