Matsurika Kanriden casts Takuya Sato and Hiyori Kono as Sekisou's emperor and empress, reprising their drama CD roles

The pair voiced Akatsuki and his 13-year-old empress in a voice drama for the spin-off novel, and now bring them to MAHO FILM's January 2027 anime.

Two figures from the neighboring kingdom of Sekisou are joining Matsurika Kanriden, and the people voicing them are not new to the parts. Takuya Sato takes on Akatsuki, Sekisou's crimson-haired and sharp-tongued ruler, while Hiyori Kono plays his consort, who wore the crown from the age of 13. Both performed the same roles for an audio drama based on On My 13th Birthday, I Became an Empress, the spin-off centered on the couple.

In comments released alongside the October 15 casting, Sato said that ever since that drama he had wanted to share a recording booth with his co-star, and this production finally made it happen; Kono recalled long conversations with him about how to play the character.

The series itself follows Matsurika, a palace attendant whose memory retains anything she sees once. That gift draws the attention of a young monarch and sets her on a road into officialdom. Broadcasts begin in January 2027 across four channels led by Tokyo MX, with KANA-BOON singing the opening and Rie Takahashi and Nobunaga Shimazaki heading the cast.
