A month out from its Japanese premiere, Expelled from Paradise: Resonance finally has a song to go with it. On October 13 the film's official site and X account unveiled "Beyond the Night," written, composed and arranged by producer TeddyLoid and sung by two guest vocalists: Ayane Sakura, credited under her role as the agent Gabriel, and Nagi Inoue, a current member of Nogizaka46. A snippet plays in the main trailer that went up the same day on Aniplex's YouTube channel, and character designer Masatsugu Saito supplied a freshly drawn key visual.

The track arrives before the movie does. A digital release follows on November 11, and a CD single lands one week later, on November 18, as a fully limited production edition (catalog XSCL-150~151) priced at 2,800 yen with tax. Alongside the song and its instrumental, the package bundles an acrylic stand of Gabriel.

Twelve years after the first film

The original Expelled from Paradise opened in Japanese theaters in November 2014, animated by Graphinica. Its world is one where most of humanity has abandoned flesh for DEVA, a digital society, and its story dropped agent Angela Balzac, wearing a real body for once, onto a devastated Earth to deal with an intruder who had cracked that paradise.

The sequel, known in Japan as Rakuen Tsuihou: Kokoro no Resonance, picks up the thread through a new set of DEVA agents, Gabriel among them, who are dispatched to the surface to track down the "Fallen" - deserters treated as a threat, whose existence ties back to the rebellion against DEVA in the first film.

Old hands, new studio

The core creative trio returns. Seiji Mizushima directs again, Gen Urobuchi of Nitroplus is back on the screenplay, and Saito once more handles the characters. Production, however, has moved to Toei Animation. Among the newcomers are animation supervisor Naoki Ogita and mechanical designer Kanetake Ebikawa, who shared mechanical design duties on Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, while the mecha veterans Ishigaki and Yanase are back from the first film. NARASAKI is writing the score.

Beside Sakura, the cast so far has Arma voiced by Saori Hayami, Daniel by Yoshino Aoyama, and Raguel by Sally Amaki.

A long build-up

The campaign has been running for nearly two years. The first teaser and visual appeared in November 2024 with a 2026 target; a third teaser in November 2025 confirmed Sakura in the lead and narrowed the release to November 2026; and a fourth followed in March 2026. Screenings in Japan start on November 13.
