CloverWorks' The Case Files of Biblia Bookstore locks in an April 2027 premiere with its first main PV

A cramped used-book shop in Kamakura is getting animated next spring. On Saturday, Aniplex put out the first full-length trailer for The Case Files of Biblia Bookstore (Biblia Koshodō no Jiken Techō), and it fixes the start for April 2027. Which stations will air it, and on what day, has yet to be revealed.

Running the store is Shioriko Shinokawa, painfully awkward when talking face to face with shoppers yet so steeped in antiquarian titles that she can tease out the hidden histories tucked inside whatever volumes customers carry through her door. Her helper, Daisuke Gōra, never developed a reading habit since printed pages leave him woozy; in Mikami's opening chapter he arrives carrying an autographed collection by Natsume Sōseki. Riko Akechi plays Shioriko, with Shunsuke Takeuchi as Daisuke.

At CloverWorks, Mamoru Kanbe is in charge, bringing a résumé that includes SHOSHIMIN: How to become Ordinary, Sound of the Sky and The Perfect Insider; Ayako Kurata assists him. Toshiya Ono is mapping out the scripts, Jun Nakai (Silver Spoon, NieR:Automata Ver1.1a) both draws the cast and supervises the key animators, and Takahiro Obata scores it.

This is not the property's first trip to the screen. CloverWorks' version was unveiled this past April with a teaser image and clip, but Fuji TV had already made a live-action series starring Ayame Goriki, broadcast between mid-January and late March 2013 and later offered overseas by Crunchyroll, and Yukiko Mishima directed a theatrical feature starring Haru Kuroki and Shūhei Nomura that opened in November 2018.

Mikami's books, featuring cover art by Hagu Koshijima, have been coming out under the Media Works Bunko paperback banner since spring 2011, total a dozen entries and claim upward of 8.5 million copies sold. They have also spawned three separate comic versions, the latest launched in early 2024.
