Ave Mujica prima aurora opens in Japan with a second main PV set to its insert song "A Song of Romance"

The 56-minute BanG Dream! film, set half a year after the band's comeback, debuted on October 16 with first-week bonus cards and a run of stage greetings, ahead of a mini album on October 21 and a new TV series in January 2027.

Sakiko Togawa's next idea for Ave Mujica is a masquerade ball for the band's members alone. That is the hook of BanG Dream! Ave Mujica prima aurora, the 56-minute film that opened in Japanese theaters on October 16. On the same day, the franchise's official X account released a second main PV, cut to the film's insert song "A Song of Romance" and showing footage not seen in earlier promotion.

The film takes place in spring, more than six months after Ave Mujica returned to the stage, with the band more popular than before. Sakiko, who has sworn to become a god, proposes the members-only masquerade as their next performance, and the official synopsis leaves her real motive as the open question.

Opening week

Until October 22, audiences in Japan receive a first-week bonus card illustrated by Osamu Nobusawa. The cast will greet audiences in person in Osaka, Hokkaido, Kumamoto and Tokyo, with the Tokyo appearance opening the run on October 17. The band's voice actresses all return: Sakiko (Oblivionis) is voiced by Kanon Takao, Mutsumi Wakaba (Mortis) by Yuzuki Watase, Uika Misumi (Doloris) by Rico Sasaki, Nyamu Yutenji (Amoris) by Akane Yonezawa and Umiri Yahata (Timoris) by Mei Okada.

Where it fits

prima aurora follows the TV anime Ave Mujica - The Die is Cast -, which aired from January 2025 for 13 episodes, animated by Sanzigen under director Kodai Kakimoto. The film is not the end point: a sequel TV series is due in January 2027, which AniList lists as BanG Dream! It's MyGO!!!!! / Ave Mujica, and Oricon reports that the film leads into that series.

Ave Mujica is the ninth band in the BanG Dream! franchise, known for its gothic, heavy sound. The music side keeps moving alongside the film: the best album Ave Música came out in June, the mini album Kami no Na wo, which carries songs from the film, follows on October 21, and the band's 7th LIVE, "Virtus," is scheduled at Keio Arena Tokyo this month.
