Asami Yaguchi, voice of Tamagotchi's Kuchipatchi, dies at 47
Her agency Kenyu Office said the voice actress died suddenly on September 26; Oricon reports the agency cited heart failure. She also voiced the young Gintoki in Gintama.
Voice actress Asami Yaguchi, the Kuchipatchi of six years of Tamagotchi anime, has passed away at 47. Her death, which came without warning, occurred on Saturday, September 26.
Kenyu Office, the agency that represented her, made the news public two days later. Its notice gave no cause, although Oricon News reported that the agency pointed to heart failure. Only close relatives attended the funeral, which was kept private at the family's request.
In the notice, agency president Kazuo Horiuchi recalled that Yaguchi had stood behind Kenyu Office from its earliest days, and noted that the late Kazuya Tatekabe had been especially fond of her.
Yaguchi was a Saitama Prefecture native, born in 1979, who began working professionally in 2002. Kuchipatchi became her signature part: she first played him in Let's Go! Tamagotchi (2007) and Tamagotchi the Movie, then kept the role through the Tamagotchi! TV series starting in 2009, Tamagotchi! Yume Kira Dream in 2012 and Tamagotchi! Miracle Friends in 2013.
Beyond that franchise, her anime credits include the child version of Gintoki Sakata in Gintama, Tarlant in Fantastic Children, Katina Tarask in Super Robot Wars OG: The Inspector and Eleonore Von Wittenburg in Dies irae. On the game side, players heard her as Pith in Arknights and as the younger Eliwood in Fire Emblem Heroes.
