Are You a Jirai Girl, Chihara-san? locks in a January 7, 2027 premiere on 28 stations in Super Animeism TURBO
SynergySP's adaptation of Ryon's GANMA! romcom, pushed out of 2026 earlier this year, now has a firm Thursday late-night start across the MBS/TBS network.
The rumor at school is that Mai Chihara is a landmine. Audiences in Japan get to decide for themselves starting Thursday, January 7, 2027, when the TV version of Are You a Jirai Girl, Chihara-san? opens inside the Super Animeism TURBO block, carried simultaneously by 28 stations across the MBS and TBS networks. The official site gives a 0:26 late-night start, and the date went out on the show's X account on October 15 together with a new video. Streaming partners have not been named, in Japan or elsewhere.
The premise toys with the jirai-kei image, a gloomy, lace-heavy look that slang ties to emotional volatility. Kuroki, a second-year in high school, lands the desk beside Chihara, accidentally draws her attention, and gradually discovers she is peculiar yet much kinder than the gossip suggests.
Sayumi Suzushiro voices Chihara and Kazuki Ura plays Kuroki; both voiced the pair in earlier voice-comic videos of the manga. Maaya Uchida, Tomokazu Sugita and Daisuke Ono round out the supporting roles as Chinatsu Iwakura, Hibiya and Kazami.
Yasuaki Fujii directs at SynergySP, with Keiichiro Ochi structuring the scripts and Majiro adapting the character art. Alisa Okehazama, who also scored The Apothecary Diaries, provides the soundtrack through King Records.
The date closes out a longer wait than planned. The project originally targeted 2026, and a June update pushed it to January 2027. Meanwhile Chihara has been releasing music in character: Suzushiro sang a cover of NayutalieN's "Alien Alien" on July 25 and a third single, "Vampire," followed in September.
Ryon has drawn the manga on the GANMA! web platform since June 2021. In 2024 Rakuten Kobo's second e-book awards named it a Next Impact Comic winner; eight volumes are in print, and Seven Seas started its English edition on September 29.
