Even the Student Council Has Its Holes! is a wild school comedy that comes from a yonkoma manga, a comic told in short four-panel strips, by the artist Muchimaro. It has run in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine since April 2022, and 13 volumes were out by August 2026. The manga won the Next Manga Award in the print category in 2023. Seven Seas Entertainment began printing it in English in September 2026. The TV anime, made by studio Passione and directed by Naoyuki Tatsuwa, starts in early October 2026 (AniList lists October 4) on Tokyo MX and other channels. It has 12 episodes. The main character is Ume Mizunoe, a first-year student at Fujinasu Academy, a school with a good name. Ume is strong in reading, history, and other humanities classes, but very weak in math and science. His grades are so bad that he might have to repeat the year. To avoid that, he joins the student council, the group of students who help run the school. He thinks it will be an easy way to fix his record. He is wrong about the "easy" part. The other council members all have their own odd habits. Hisako Kotobuki, the third-year president, looks perfect. She is smart and good at sports. Arisu Terui, the second-year treasurer, comes from a rich family. Komaro Michinoku is a first-year member with a sad past. Tan Otori, a middle school student who handles public relations, has a very girlish look. Each one has a strange side hidden under the surface, and Ume is the one who must deal with the daily mess. The humor comes in quick, short gags, as you would expect from a four-panel comic. Many of the jokes are cheeky and a bit adult, with embarrassing situations and some nudity, so the show is meant for older teens and up. Still, under the silly jokes, the council members slowly become a close and caring group, and Ume finds himself enjoying their company. This is a light, easy watch for fans of chaotic school comedies with a big, odd cast.
