Playing Sister, called Onee-chan Gokko in Japanese, is a small, homemade-feeling anime that is free to watch on YouTube. It is the work of HarumakiGohan, a music maker and illustrator who is well known for Vocaloid songs. Vocaloid is singing software, and its most famous voice is Hatsune Miku. HarumakiGohan did almost everything on this show: directing, writing the script, editing, music, and sound. The animation comes from his own team, Studio Gohan. It is an original story, not based on a manga or book. The series has three episodes of about 25 minutes each. The first one came out on January 31, 2026, with subtitles in English, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean, and the full story is planned to finish about a year after that. The show is one part of a bigger music project. Songs go along with the story. The first song, "Doppelganger," is sung by Hatsune Miku and has its own animated music video. A doppelganger is a person who looks exactly like someone else, like a double or a copy. That idea sits at the center of this mystery. The story takes place far in the future. Big cities have grown full of high technology, but the countryside has been left behind. Kagami Village is one of these forgotten places, a small town up in the mountains. The people there still tell an old warning to children: if you are bad, a Double will come to get you. In other words, a copy of a person might show up in their place. Akane Higure is a girl in middle school who lives in this village. Her big sister, Sui, has been in the hospital for a whole year. Akane has missed her a lot, and she is very happy when Sui is finally allowed to come home. For a short time, it seems like the family can go back to normal. Then Akane gets a strange phone call. The voice tells her that the person living in the house with her is not really her older sister. From that moment, Akane cannot stop wondering. Is the call a cruel trick? Or is the old village story about Doubles true? Akane must decide whom she can trust, and what it truly means to be family. The tone is quiet, tense, and a little scary. It is a mystery and psychological thriller with supernatural ideas, and it is rated for teens. Most of the cast are girls and young people, and the story looks closely at the bond between two sisters. Erika Miyazaki voices Akane, Isekaijoucho voices Sui, and Arisa Sugimoto plays a supporting girl named Mari. Because the show is short and free, it is an easy pick for anyone who likes slow-burn mysteries, rural settings, and stories where music and animation work together.
