TANK CHAIR is a loud, fast action show made in full 3D computer graphics by Polygon Pictures, the studio known for its CG anime. It is based on a manga by Manabu Yashiro. The manga started in November 2022 on Kodansha's Magazine Pocket app. In November 2024 it moved to the print magazine Monthly Shonen Sirius, and it has passed ten volumes. Kodansha USA also sells it in English. The TV anime began on October 4, 2026, on Tokyo MX and BS11 in Japan. The story takes place on Gui Cheng Island. People there call it the most dangerous city in the whole universe. Crime is normal, killers are for hire, and nobody is safe for long. This wild place gives the show its tone: bright, violent, and a little crazy, with fights that never seem to stop. At the center are two siblings, Nagi Taira and his younger sister, Shizuka. Nagi was once a top assassin, which means a hired killer. One day he jumped in front of a bullet to save Shizuka. He lived, but the wound left him in a deep sleep, like a coma, and he now sits in a wheelchair. Most of the time he cannot speak or move on his own. There is one strange exception. When Nagi feels someone near him who truly wants to kill, he wakes up. In those moments he turns back into the deadly fighter he used to be. His wheelchair is not a normal chair, either. It is loaded with heavy weapons, almost like a small tank on wheels, which is where the title comes from. Shizuka has a plan built on this. She accepts the most dangerous killing jobs she can find on the island. She does not do the fighting herself. Instead, she brings her brother along, and when a real threat appears, Nagi wakes and handles the job. Her true goal is bigger than money. She hopes that if she finds an enemy strong enough, the shock will wake Nagi up for good. So every mission is also a step in his strange road to recovery. The show mixes several moods. It is an action series full of guns, speed, and over-the-top battles. It also has a warm core, because it is really about a sister who refuses to give up on her brother. The idea of a hero in a wheelchair gives it a fresh angle, and the story treats disability as part of who Nagi is, not as the end of his life. Other characters around the pair include Naozumi and Touko Kurosaka, Dr. Radio, Uzu, and a figure called Sensei. In the Japanese version, Koki Uchiyama voices Nagi and Minori Fujidera voices Shizuka. Masaru Yokoyama wrote the music. The opening song, "Dalala," is by the rock band SiM, and the ending song, "Sync," is by the singer Daoko. For viewers who like stylish action with a strong family bond at its heart, TANK CHAIR offers something unusual.
