In English, this show is called I Lost My Adventurer's License, but It's Fine Because I Have an Adorable Daughter Now. The long title tells you the mood: a tired man, a cute child, and a slow, warm life together. The story began as a web novel by Manimani Ononata. The publisher SB Creative later printed it under its GA Novel line, starting in August 2018, with art by Fuzichoco. A manga version drawn by Fumi Tadaura has run on Square Enix's Manga UP! app since late 2018. The TV anime was announced in January 2026 at the GA Fes 2026 live stream. Studio Palette is making it, and Yuki Inaba directs and writes the scripts. Kaori Yoshikawa designs the characters, and Oh Shu and Daiki Okuno write the music. It is planned to air in January 2027. The hero is Douglas Ford, a 37-year-old man. In the past, he was a famous magic user who made his teammates stronger with support spells. But his body has changed. Now, each time he uses a skill, his top health goes down. Because of this, his work gets worse and worse. His party of heroes pushes him out. Then the guild takes away his adventurer's license, so he cannot take on quests anymore. With no job and no team, Douglas leaves Balzac, the capital city. He travels from place to place, doing all kinds of odd jobs and trying to figure out what his life should be about now. The Japanese title calls him an "ossan," a friendly word for a middle-aged man. He is not a young star, just a plain man who has lost his place. On his travels, Douglas meets a Fenrir, a scary wolf-like monster. But the creature is really a person who has been placed under a curse. Douglas tries to break the curse. His first try does not work, but in the end he succeeds. Out of the monster's shape comes a little girl named Rabi. She has no family and no home to go back to. So Douglas makes a big choice. He decides to take her in and raise her as his own daughter. From there, the story becomes a gentle adventure about a found family. That means people who are not related by blood, but choose to care for each other like a family. Douglas may be weaker than before, but he still has a lot of knowledge and a good heart. Rabi gives him a new reason to live. The show mixes fantasy travel, comedy, and heartwarming moments between father and daughter. It fits with other cozy fantasy shows where the goal is not to save the world, but to live a calm and happy life. In the anime, Hiroki Yasumoto voices Douglas and Yuka Iguchi voices Rabi. Fans of slow, kind stories about parents and children may want to keep an eye on this one.
