A Returner's Magic Should Be Special comes from South Korea. It started as a web novel by Usonan on the KakaoPage platform from 2016 to 2019. A webtoon (a Korean comic made for scrolling on a phone) drawn by Wookjakga began in 2018. The anime version is made by Arvo Animation. Its first season aired from October to December 2023, and Crunchyroll streams it in many countries. This second season begins in October 2026 (AniList lists October 8) on Fuji TV's +Ultra late-night program. The story begins at the end of the world. For years, humanity has been fighting a losing war in the Shadow World, or Shadow Labyrinth, a dark and deadly place full of monsters. Only a small group of the strongest heroes is left. One of them is Desir Arman, a powerful mage. In the final battle, they fail. Everything is destroyed. Then Desir opens his eyes and finds himself 13 years in the past. He is young again, and he is about to take the entrance exam for Hebrion Academy, the top magic school in the kingdom. He still remembers everything from the ruined future: the disaster, the enemies, and all the mistakes that led to the end. Now he has a second chance. His plan is to use what he knows to make himself and others strong enough to change what is coming. Desir cannot do it alone. At the academy, he builds a team of classmates who he believes can grow into great fighters. There is Romantica Eru, a proud wind mage from a noble family that was only recently given its title. There is Pram Schneizer, a skilled swordsman of mixed heritage. And there is Adjest Kingscrown, the heir to the kingdom's throne. None of them knows about the future at first, so Desir must act as their teacher and guide while keeping his secret. The show is a "regression" story, a popular type of Korean fantasy in which a hero goes back in time and uses future knowledge to do better. It focuses on magic school life, training, team battles, and exploring dungeons. The magic has clear rules, and Desir wins more with planning than with raw power. There is also a warm theme of friendship, since he tries to protect the friends he once lost. Season 2 continues the team's growth after the first season's events. Viewers should watch season 1 first.
