Nem

Hone Dragon no Mana Musume, known in English as The Skull Dragon's Precious Daughter, is a fantasy story about a very unusual family: a dying dragon and the small human girl he decides to raise. It comes from a manga by Ichi Yukishiro. The manga began in September 2020 on Mag Comi, an online manga site run by the publisher Mag Garden. In January 2022 it moved to the print magazine Monthly Comic Garden. In English, J-Novel Club releases it digitally, and Seven Seas Entertainment prints the books. The TV anime was announced on March 4, 2026, by Kadokawa. It is made by Doga Kobo, the studio known for Oshi no Ko. The director is Kuniyasu Nishina, who worked as an episode director on Oshi no Ko. Yuka Yamada plans the overall story of the series, and Tomoya Atsumi designs the characters. The story takes place in the Forest of Scraps. This is a dumping ground, a place where people throw away all kinds of things they no longer want. It is also a dangerous place to live. An old dragon has come here to rest and wait for the end of his long life. He does not expect any visitors. Then a five-year-old girl named Eve walks out of the trash and stands in front of him. She has been left behind, thrown away like everything else in the forest. Somehow this tiny child has stayed alive among all the dangers around her. The dragon feels sorry for her, and he chooses to take her in. On AniList he is listed as Nem, and in the English books he is called Snoozy. The two spend five years together as father and daughter. But the dragon is still old, and his time cannot be stopped. When he dies, Eve is left alone. This is where the title comes in. The "skull dragon" is the dragon after death, brought back as a skeleton. He did not know how strong his daughter really was. Eve has great magic inside her, more than he ever guessed. The English books call her a young witch. Now the bony dragon joins her again, and the two set out on an adventure. His goal is to help her learn to control her magic before his new body gives out too. The series mixes adventure and fantasy with a strong family story. Much of its warmth comes from the bond between a huge, tired creature and a bold, sometimes reckless little girl who loves him. There are funny moments, but also a quiet sadness, since both of them know their time together will not last forever. Viewers who enjoy gentle stories about found family, where people who are not related by blood still become a family, will likely enjoy this one. With Doga Kobo animating it, the anime is a title fantasy fans will want to watch for.
