I Want to Love You Till Your Dying Day is a dark fantasy love story between two girls, made for Summer 2026. It is based on a yuri manga by Aono Nachi. Yuri is a Japanese term for stories about romance between women. The manga has run in Ichijinsha's Comic Yuri Hime magazine since 2018 and had nine volumes by July 2026. Kodansha USA publishes it in English. The anime was made by the studio Roll2, with Jukki Hanada in charge of series composition. It began airing in Japan in July 2026 and streams on Crunchyroll. ReoNa sings the opening song, "Amore," and Sajou no Hana performs the ending. The story is set in a country at war. Girls with no family are sent to a strict orphanage that is really a military school. There, they are trained with magic so they can be used as weapons on the battlefield. Many of them die, and the others learn not to feel much about it. The adults see them as tools, not children. The main character is Sheena Totsuki. Her magic is ordinary, and she does not want to hurt anyone. More than anything, she wants the fighting to stop. One terrible night, after she loses someone close to her, Sheena sees a strange girl soaked in blood who is smiling. The next day, that girl joins her class. Her name is Mimi Kagari. Soon Mimi becomes Sheena's roommate, too. The other students whisper that Mimi is the school's secret weapon. They say she cannot stay dead. When she is killed in battle, she comes back to life. Because of this, Mimi treats death as something normal, even something to welcome, and she goes off to fight again and again with a cheerful face. For Sheena, who hates death and war, living with Mimi is confusing and scary at first. But the two girls slowly grow close, and their bond turns into something deeper. The show is emotional and often violent. There are bloody battle scenes, and the story does not hide how cruel war is for the children forced into it. At the same time, the heart of the series is a quiet, tender relationship. It asks what it means to love someone who may not value her own life, and whether love can give someone a reason to want to live. The themes include war, loss, trust, and first love. The manga was nominated for the Next Manga Award in 2019. Because of the gore, the series is better for older teens and adults.
