Blue Box is a sports romance that won many fans with its gentle, honest feelings. The first anime season aired from October 2024 to March 2025, with 25 episodes. It won the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Award for Best Romance. This second season begins on October 4, 2026. There is one big change behind the scenes: the studio Electric Circus now handles the animation, taking over from Telecom Animation Film. The story comes from Kouji Miura's manga, which ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from April 2021 to July 2026. By May 2026, it had more than 10 million copies in circulation. The story takes place at Eimei Junior and Senior High School, a private school famous for its strong sports clubs. Taiki Inomata is a hard-working boy on the badminton team. He is not a star, but he trains every morning before class. The reason is partly Chinatsu Kano, an older girl who plays on the girls' basketball team. She is a talented player, and she also comes to the gym early to practice. Taiki has quietly admired her for a long time. Then life takes a surprising turn. Chinatsu's parents have to move overseas for work, but she wants to stay in Japan to keep playing basketball. Because her mother and Taiki's mother are old friends, Chinatsu comes to live at Taiki's house. Now the girl he likes is sleeping under the same roof. They agree to keep it a secret at school. The first season follows how they slowly grow closer while both chase the same goal: reaching the national high school sports tournament, called the Inter-High. Another key person is Hina Chono, Taiki's childhood friend. She is a skilled rhythmic gymnast, a sport where athletes dance with ribbons, balls, or hoops. Hina is cheerful and supportive, but she also has feelings of her own. This creates a love triangle that is painful but very human. Other friends and teammates on the badminton and basketball teams also help Taiki grow as an athlete and as a person. What makes Blue Box stand out is its calm, sincere tone. There is no big drama for its own sake. Instead, the show looks at small moments: a shared early practice, a text message, a word of support before a match. It treats sports and love as two parts of growing up, both full of effort, doubt, and joy. The season 2 story continues right where the first left off, so viewers should watch season 1 first.
